Chocolate Chip Cookie Dough Truffles

Ingredients
1/2 cup salted butter, at room temperature
3/4 cup light brown sugar, packed
1 teaspoon vanilla extract
2 cups all-purpose flour
1 (14 ounce) can sweetened condensed milk
1 Heath candy bar and 1 lb dipping chocolate
1. In a large bowl, use electric mixer to cream together butter and brown sugar. Add vanilla. Then add the flour and sweetened condensed milk by alternating the two little bits at a time.
2. Roll into bite sized balls and refrigerate until set. This is usually about 1 hour.
3. Melt chocolate in a bowl- easiest to do in the microwave in 30 second bursts, stirring after each heating time, until smooth. Use a spoon to help you dip the chilled dough ball into the chocolate and roll it around to cover all sides. Place it on a waxed paper-lined platter. Sprinkle with any smashed Heath bar. Repeat with the rest of the dough balls. They'll begin to set pretty quickly. Keep them refrigerated until ready to serve.

Wedding Cake Shake and Bake

This wedding cake took hours upon hours and I hope to never have to make it again. However, it was a great learning experience.

Bakin' cake

Thank you Google images. I was browsing cakes one day and came across a keyboard cake and then found the perfect excuse to try it out. I decided to make homemade fondant. I think that may have been a bad idea, but I made it work anyway. The fondant was not as sturdy as I hoped for but I think it still turned out pretty well. My hands are a bit red and my moms a bit black but it was worth it. I had a lot of fun making it. Perhaps I will start a quest for a new themed cake to try.

Culinary School

Culinary school is such a roller coaster of emotions. Somedays are so fun and others make you want to quit. Well at least it seems that way for me. But there is one thing that helps me hold it all together and that's my classmates. They are more than just people I'm in class with, they are my friends. They are my family. We have been through a lot together and I wouldn't change any of it. I struggle a lot with cooking and almost always have no idea what I'm doing and they all use their time and go out of their way to help me and are looking for nothing in return. They amaze me everyday. I am scared to think where I would be without them and I constantly think how lucky I am to be with them. There is a reason I started school when I did. You have to understand that not all of the other classes are like ours. We hear stories of other classes not getting along and that is sad because it ruins part of the experience. It helps you to love what you are doing when you have people to enjoy it with. When you are all there to help push each other. It's a journey I'm so thankful I don't have to do alone. Every classmate has such a unique personality. I adore every single one. I know that I should tell you more about the food and what we are doing but I have such great appreciation for them that I just wanted to share a glimpse of how special they are. Here are some pictures to give you a hint of what it's like.
